Buttermilk Falls is one of the most scenic state parks in New York.  In particular, the Gorge Trail is beautiful from the base to the West King Ridge bridge.  The trail is easy, however its all up and sections of the trail are wet and slick from time to time. I believe the incline is about 500′ over a 3/4mile section — most of which is stairs.

The Larch Meadows Trail, which was once home to a Sapony Indian Village of log cabins, is also well marked.  This footpath is also prone to wet areas and with most wet area trails, bring your insect repellent.  This is a unique habitat for plants and wildlife.  The loop starts and ends by the ballfield.
