The City of Oswego has done a great job with the creation of both the East and West Riverwalks.  Both walks are paved and hug the Oswego River mouth to Lake Ontario.  There are multiple parking locations in addition to the ones I’ve included GPS coordinates for above.  I’ve also included the GPS coordinates for the footbridge that connects the East and West trails.

Fishing is outstanding and encouraged all along the east trail (and the center wall).  However, the heaviest concentration of fishermen seem to cluster from the cleaning station (behind the power plant) to the dam.  Use extreme caution if crossing to the wall or fishing in the water as the dam is operational.

11/18/2009 (Chinook) – I have fished all along this area for years.  During the peak of salmon season, you’ll see fishermen shoulder to shoulder along the entire east trail.  Several restaurants have stairs along the east trail and most are very friendly to fishermen.  Today, Chinook and I parked at the fish cleaning station and walk to the end of the east trail.  On our way back, we took the footbridge to the west trail, made our way to the end and then returned to the car.  The entire trip was 2.8 miles.
